By joining our growing team of volunteers today, we will provide you with all the training and knowledge you need to make a difference. VOLUNTEERING FAQs

  • WHY VOLUNTEER?

    Since our initial establishment we have had a steady stream of incredible, hard working volunteers helping with everything from admin & customer service, to processing donations & engaging in community out reach. 


    As an independent volunteer lead charity, we simply could not operate without the dedication of our volunteers who

    do a tremendous job.


    Volunteers report a sense of satisfaction in knowing that their actions make a siginificant difference to the lives of the people in ther own community. 

  • IS IT A PAID ROLE?

    Volunteer roles are unpaid & work is completed on a voluntary basis, however we may be able to cover some expensess, such as delivery driver's fuel, training & any clothing or uniform requirements.

  • WHAT HOURS AM I COMMITTED TO?

    Volunteering is carried out on an entirely voluntary basis and as such, you are not obligated to any hours, even if you've only an hour or two a week, there are roles and jobs we can utelise any available hands for.


    Some more seniour volunterring roles may carry additional responsibility & require more consistant scheduling but this will always be discussed should it affect  you or your position within the charity,


    The amount of time needed is different for each opportunity and would be outlined in any role descriptions. 


    All time and energy donated to our collective charity goals are hugely appreciated, all help is greatly received, it could be one-off, short or longer term commitment, whatever you can offer, we will do our best to utelise.

  • WHAT WORK WILL I BE DOING?

    As an independent, volunteer lead Multibank, our volunteer roles are diverse and constantly changing, these include but are not limited to:


    Admin Assistants, Donation Processors, Delivery Drivers, Designers, Electricians, Social Media Maintenance, Customer Service, Community outreach and much more.


    If you have experience you may feel is relevent to a role, please let us know and we will do our best to utilise all of your skills as fully as possible.

  • DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?

    Absolutely not. 


    If you have experience you may feel is relevent to a role, please let us know and we will do our best to utilise all of your skills as fully as possible.


    However, if you've no specialist skills or previous experience - don't worry. We still need help with many simpl, easy and entry level tasks and will give you all the info and training required for any other volunteer roles you may be interested in.


    All you need is the willingness to volunteer & enthusiasm to get involved.

  • DO YOU PAY EXPENSES?

    Some basic expenses may be claimed back, for example delivery driver petrol, or any travel or training undertaken on behalf of Families 1st.

  • WHERE WILL I BE WORKING?

    As a Multibank Charity  we currently have multiple sites & locations across Newcastle, however the majority of volunteers will be located at our main distribution centre in Unit1, Windsor House, Brunswick Industrial Estate. 


    Should you have a preference, please notify us on your application form.

  • DO I NEED REFERENCES?

    Yes, but these are simply personal referee's rather than  an employment reference.

Volunteering is an excellent way to attain new skills & improve your CV for potential future employers. 
Volunteers will always be prioritised should potential new employment opportunities arise.

Age, Ability & personal history are not an obstacle to volunteering, we believe in inclusivity, diversity, open dialogue and redemption. Where pertinent full DBS checks may be required.
